DR LAXX Falls to 2-1 on the Season
Sunday was not a good outing for DR LAXX as the team fell behind early to a fast and composed visiting New Castle Lacrosse Club and was never able to recover. The sloppy conditions could not be entirely to blame for the poor passing and missed opportunities of DR LAXX. Many offensive possessions and fast breaks ended with the ball thrown away. New Castle controlled ground balls and the game to take their first win of the season, 13-3 over DR LAXX.
The only bright spot on the day was distribution of helmets and shorts. Gloves will be in this week.
Next Game for DR LAXX is at Swann Park in Baltimore, home of the Baltimore Fire Lacrosse Club. The game is Saturday at 2 PM. Directions can be found by following the link.

anyone have any comments on the defense? our slides seem to start off bad, got better, then went down the toilet as the game went into the 4th qtr. clears looked pretty good, one on one we held our own for the most part i think. think we should aim to meet a little earlier before game to go over some basics, anybody agree. probably wouldn't hurt the attack to do the same. everybody has to get used to playing together before the old hereford team shows it's ugly face again.
It seemed like there wasn't any talking on D during the 1st quarter, but started getting better afterwards. Offense needed to work on controlling the ball (guilty of it myself also), working it around and getting some cutters. Doing this will also give the defense a break...I think that fatigue may have played a role on that part in the 4th quarter. We should definitely try to get together and warm up a bit before the game.

I agree about the slides. talk got better, then worse. Missing some bodies hurt a bit too. Stresses the importance of having all your guns ready for tough games. I don't think we need to worry too much about "old" Hereford, but we do need to come together and begin playing as a team. some of that will come in time, but it will take longer if key players are frequently missing. Something else to consider is that everyone has been getting PT, not just those that are going to be regulars.
Yes, everyone has been getting playing time - hopefully everyone is getting enough. However, the first couple of games were scheduled this way on purpose - New Castle may have caught us by surprise a bit. Typically that is a very closely contested game for us. The other two games we expected to be able to play everyone and that should hold through this weekend. But New Castle was a bit of a wake up, I expect for some - that team is not a premier team in our league and they handled us. If we field an identical team against, say Crease Monkeys, and play everyone in a similar fashion, the score would be far worse. What I am trying to say is some of us could be seeing minimal playing time in certain games.
