Rule Changes for 2005
Back in October 2004, Jay posted about the coming rule changes for 2005. They will be voted on at this weekends meeting in Philadelphia during the coaches convention. New Face Off Rule:
Center stripe will be 4 inches wide. Players will place their sticks parallel to the line but not touching it. The ball will be placed in between. Otherwise, everything is the same.
The intent is to eliminate cheating. Leaning over the ball, having your stick crooked, etc. This set-up will allow the refs to more easily determine if someone is cheating and it will hopefully make it more obvious if someone moves before the whistle.
I am strongly in favor of this rule.

I'll second that. Not that I face-off that much, but it does sound like it'll make it more of a level playing field...no pun intended.
