DR LAXX to Sponsor the HLC A.L.L. team
DR LAXX has agreed to sponsor the HLC team to participate in the A.L.L. DR LAXX will be picking up league and referee fees, field rental, providing indoor practice times in February, ordering new jerseys (to remain team property, not individual) and providing players with shorts. Depending on interest there will probably be the opportunity to order gloves and helmets at a discount to retail.
What this means is that for the first time in the history of the HLC there will be tryouts. Tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, 27 February 2005 at a time and location to be determined. It is hoped that they can be held outdoors on a field, however, an indoor field may have to be utilized dependent on weather. If you want to play in the A.L.L. for the DR LAXX/HLC team you MUST be at this practice or have a good reason why you can not make it.
For those concerned about making the cut, know two things:
1. We will still not turn you away from playing with the DR LAXX/HLC team if you are dead set on playing in the A.L.L. Just know that depending on numbers and talent level, playing time is no longer guaranteed as it has been in the past.
2. It is possible that HLC could field a "B" team to play at St James in our usual time slot. We would have to schedule teams like Carrol County and the Harrisburg Masters several times in a season and pick up anyone with an open date in the A.L.L.
In order to ensure the future of the club and increase the competitiveness of the team it was felt that these steps needed to be taken. This is where I urge anyone to use the "Comments" links to let us know if there is a problem or just to sound your opinion.
See you all on the fields or in the box.
